A large percentage of the world's population at least has one pet in their homes. They are a source of company for many people across the world. The most common pets are cats and dogs. Pets need proper care for them to stay healthy and to enjoy a long life. It is, therefore, the responsibility of any pet owner to look after their pet. Most people love cats because of some of the exceptional traits that they possess. Cats take up distinctive roles in the household that ensure proper and habitable conditions of these places. Cats are at a risk of acquiring diseases,and even getting infested with pests that reduce their immunity and health. A cat owner has a responsibility to take proper care of their cats.
The busy schedules of the human beings sometimes may cause them to forget to do some other roles and responsibilities. The tight job schedules limit the quality time that an individual spends with their pet. Other than the normal programme of feeding and watering the cat, there is a lot more needed to provide for the pet. It may be hard for the cat owner to follow up all the routine activities for their animal. A monthly trim of the cat's claws is essential. Long claws on the cat are unhealthy and disadvantageous. An individual can tell the most appropriate time to trim the claws of the cat by listening to the noises it makes when moving around. Long claws my cause injuries to an individual or even damage some items in a home. There are many tools that an individual can use to trim the cat's claws such as the use of nail trimmers or scissors.
A cat owner should also treat their cat of fleas regularly. Outdoor cats are susceptible to flea attack since their movements are not controlled. Fleas destroy the fur of the cat by causing infectious wounds on the cat which makes it even risky for the life of the owner.
Cats must get treated for worms. Worms compete for the food that is eaten by the cat and therefore makes the cat become emaciated. Correct diagnosis and treatment guarantees positive results to the cat that is on treatment. It is important to get the best treatment for worms since they have several adverse effects to the cat.
It is advisable to take the cat to see a veterinary officer on weekly or monthly basis. The more frequent the visits to the veterinary officer the better it is for the cat. A cat is taken for vaccination against certain common diseases which ensures that they are well protected from such diseases. These visits should be more frequent for cats aged seven years and above.
Exercise is an important part of a cat's life.
